What We Did Yesterday.

John did not have to work yesterday, so we headed into Hamilton and took a walk along the river where we used to live. Daisy and John both crossed the pipe that is across the slue. Daisy crossed it like 3 times....by the third time across, she was getting pretty cocky and wasn't paying attention....so she ended up losing her footing and fell in. It wasn't a very far fall and she fell into the water, so she wasnt hurt. By the way....the vet's office we go to has a electronic walk-on scale right in the waiting room, so you can go in there any time to weigh your dogs....Since our visit about 6 weeks ago....Daisy has lost 4 pounds! Yeah!!

Along our walk we cross a small foot bridge....we all made it across...except.....(Video is side ways...sorry!)

She is such a big baby...she cries about everything...she cries to come in...she cries when Daisy has her bone....and you can hear her crying in the video too! Please note that the water you hear rushing in the background is not what is under the footbridge....it is the water that is rushing over the small rocky "dam" in the river to the left.

Just planning on finishing up making stuff for the fundraiser, cleaning, maybe groceries and a walk for the dogs. But what I really feel like doing is what Stella is doing....take a nap!! We don't know yet if John is working today, I guess we'll just wing it for today. Nothing too much else going on. Oh...if by any chance you get a pop up saying your computer is infected with spyware, don't "X" it out! Using ALT F4 will get rid of the pop up. If you "X" it out, you will become infected with the Antivirus 360 worm. Not to be confused with Norton 360. Even though I had virus protection....by xing it out, I gave it "permission" to access my computer. It is extremely hard to get rid of...even Norton Software can't get rid of it. It is apparently running rampant right now....so be careful. It can ultimately crash your computer and cause you to lose valuable documents.

PS....the answers for the St Patty's Day Quiz are in the comments.

Wolves.

So last fall there was supposed to be the first ever hunting season on wolves. But after much debate they placed the wolves BACK on the endangered species list; therefore putting a halt on any type of management efforts. This year game harvests in the area are down. There are far fewer elk, moose and deer populations and a growing wolf population.

There are know packs that roam throughout the Valley....upwards of at least 8-10 different packs. There has been problems with the wolf pack last year in Florence (the town JUST North of Stevi)....they killed two or three alpaca. But the most aggressive pack is near Darby ( 50 miles South of Stevi). Last year they had one or two dogs killed by the wolves....livestock attacked and just recently, another dog was killed. Here is that story. So recently the US Fish and Game has once again removed the wolves from the endangered species list in Idaho and Montana due mainly to the fact that they have approved management plans in place.

Now, me being an animal lover, when I orginially moved into the valley thought it was pretty cool that there were wolves here.....but not so much anymore. When I think back to when we originally walked the property with our landlord last march....where was elk carcass we stumbled upon...I now wonder if any wolves are roaming about on our property? Probably. Our next door neighbor saw one walking down his driveway....NEXT DOOR!!! When the elk were in the field across the road from us our landlord's friend saw 2-3 wolves circling the herd. They go where their food source is.....elk.....livestock? The attack on the dogs from Darby was just instinct....they were protecting their territory. But still scary nonetheless.

Ok so on a happier note...I thought I would share the story of Duke, from Billings. Click HERE for his story.

Spring Ahead

Don't forget to set your clocks ahead.....well, last night, but just a reminder!

We woke Friday to a beautiful new snow. This little deer must have been bedded down close by...she was just covered in it!

With the 68 degree weather we had last week, I was sure spring was here to stay. But that's the weather for ya in Montana. But we don't mind....would rather have snow anyway!

New Bed!!

Since I post on my other blog every day, I thought I should try to be more faithful over here! Today is Wednesday and in the blogging world....I guess it is "Wordless Wednesday"....well I was going to just post a picture of the bed without any explaination...but....I never followed the rules very well anyway!!

My friend, Lori, is moving.....for right now to Missoula to live with her mom, but maybe eventually to Maui!! So she sent most of her stuff to the auction...but we snagged this sweeeeetttt bed! It is practically brand new....it was in her guest room! A REALLY expensive matress. SOOOOO comfy. We also got matching microsuede bedspread and matching curtains...but as you can see we haven't had a chance to get a curtain rod. I am especially excited about the curtains....since they are the only room that will have them!! I feel like a kid when I crawl into it, it sits so high off the floor. Another thing I am really excited about is having a head board....I think it must be like 15 years since I have had a bed that had one! So this is how it looks......um.....about 5% of the time.

AND THIS:

Is how it looks the rest of the time....I tell ya they should make glue out of dog slobber. Stella is not a huge drooler or slobber, but she rests her head on the edge of the bed before she actually crawls in.....therefore....it is almost impossible to not get slobber on the bed then!

Wow, where has the time gone?

March already! Seems like just yesterday it was New Year's Day! It is also hard to believe that many parts of the country are still experiencing winter weather.....today on my way to work, the digital thermometer in my car was giving me a reading of 64 degrees! What a bright sunny day it was. Unbelievable.....*wonders how many people were wishing they were in Montana right now?*. Hmmm...*thinking * "see....we're not sooo crazy afterall"??

John's parents woke to 0 degrees this morning with the windchill and my mom and dad said it didn't get out of the 20's today.

Feels like spring, smells like spring....must be spring!
